The
Internet/Electronic Media Committee Mission Statement
Pursuant to the authority granted by the New York
State Elks Association it is the mission of the Internet/Electronic Media
Committee to provide a high quality, well organized, easy to navigate,
frequently refreshed web-based medium. Furthermore, that this medium
promotes the public image of the order through the good works we Elks do.
The Web site will also provide information useful to our membership that
will facilitate the improvement of communication and function within the
organization, maintain creditability of the content that we provide and
protect the integrity of the association and the order. The following are
our Goals:
 |
To design and maintain an attractive and
informative web site. |
 |
To establish standards of communication and
content through the
able guidance provided by the representatives of our advisory board
and promote these standards to subordinate lodges and
districts. |
 |
To provide information, guidance and
encouragement to our lodges
and districts regarding web sites.
|
 |
To periodically monitor lodge and
district sites for any content
that may be inappropriate, and to
communicate any divergence
from accepted standards in a friendly and
non-threatening
manner to the web site administrator. |
 |
To report to the Internet Committee
Liaison any breech of standards
that goes uncorrected or ignored after
proper notification has been given. |
 |
To work with the chairmen of other
state committees, including
The Empire State Elk Publication, who may
benefit from a presence
on our site. |
 |
To maximize the talents of the
individual committee members without
expectations beyond their abilities
or undue burden to family commitments.
|
As indicated by our goals, this
committee is not just about designing a web site. It includes projecting
an image about all of Elkdom. This objective can only be accomplished
through careful thought and action. First and foremost, on the part of
our committee and then ultimately by all of New York State Elks involved
in carrying our messages on the internet. Finally, we should all strive
to make this the best web site we can produce within the limitations
technology will place upon us.
